National Democrating Institute |
|
In close collaboration with the National Democratic Institute(NDI) we developed UgandaWatch, the only genuine national crowd-sourcing tool during the full 2011 election cycle.
We developed an intranet for processing all incoming messages with a step-by-step process that allowed message taggers to quickly get up-to-speed.
On the frontend we adapted DevelopmentSeed's ManagingNews to visualize the collected data. We added the possibility of showing barcharts over the map of Uganda for this project.
We are currently working with NDI and its partners on one of the biggest SMS based projects in Uganda. |
|
For UNICEF Uganda we are building Devtrac their service monitoring tool.
DevTrac is a Ugandan initiative led by a consortium of government and donor agencies: including the GEO-IS Working group, OCHA, Uganda Bureau of Statistics and UNICEF - to visualize and monitor the status of national services (schools, health centers, water points, etc) and development projects.
For Devtrac we extensively used Drupal's powerful search capabilities to generate unlimited ways to look at all collected data in several different formats.
We also developed a new set of modules that is capable capturing structured data about a certain context.
Devtrac is currently in its third upgrade cycle and more exciting features are in the pipeline. |

|
The Start Your Business Competition is an example of a complex,
advanced technology website build in Drupal. Start Your Business is
an initiative whereby young Ugandans are motivated to run businesses.
Over 4 separate rounds participants could submit their business
proposals. 10 Winners have won one of the big prices both in money as
well as support setting up their business in 2008. 4500 People participated
in the competition in 2008.
Mountbatten was approached to design a website and a strategy of
how the submitters can enter the competition. Besides that the
project will have an educational value; part of the website has been
reserved for interesting content for starting business people. This
way not only submitters, but also independent entrepreneurs can
benefit from visiting the website. www.startyourbusiness.ug
