Organisation Development Human Resource Management Teambuilding Training
Two different definitions of Organisation Development Organization Development is a top-management-supported, long-range effort to improve an organization's problem-solving and renewal process, particularly through a more effective and collaborative diagnosis and management of organization culture-with special emphasis on formal work team, temporary team, and inter-group culture- with the assistance of a consultant-facilitator and the use of theory and technology of applied behavioural science, including Action Research (French & Bell 1990). Organization Development has been defined as a series of planned processes by which human resources are identified, utilized, and developed in ways that strengthen organizational effectiveness by increasing problem solving capabilities and planning (The Organization Development Institute). Definition Human Resource Management: The theoretical discipline is based primarily on the assumption that employees are individuals with varying goals and needs, and as such should not be thought of as basic business resources, such as trucks and filing cabinets. The field takes a positive view of workers, assuming that virtually all wish to contribute to the enterprise productively, and that the main obstacles to their endeavours are lack of knowledge, insufficient training, and failures of process. HRM is seen by
practitioners in the field as a more innovative view of workplace
management than the traditional approach. Its techniques force the
managers of an enterprise to express their goals with specificity so
that they can be understood and undertaken by the workforce,
and to provide the resources needed for them to successfully
accomplish their assignments. As such, HRM techniques, when properly
practised, are expressive of the goals and operating practices of the
enterprise overall. "Team building" (or "'teambuilding'") refers to the process of establishing and developing a greater sense of collaboration and trust between team members. Interactive exercises, team assessments, and group discussions enable groups to cultivate this greater sense of teamwork. Team building is used in many contexts, for example in sport clubs and work organizations. This article is licensed under the GNU FreeDocumentation License.
